Job Description

Job Summary

The Probate Paralegal supports attorneys in all aspects of probate and estate administration, ensuring cases are handled efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws and court procedures. Responsibilities include preparing and e-filing legal documents, managing case timelines and deadlines, conducting legal and asset-related research, communicating with clients and third parties, and maintaining accurate and organized case files. The paralegal plays a key role in moving cases forward by coordinating documentation, monitoring progress, and ensuring that all required actions are completed in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

Draft and File Legal Documents: Prepare and e-file probate pleadings such as, but not limited to, petitions, orders, notices, motions, waivers, assignments of interest, consents, objections, affidavits, court required checklists, inventories, and accountings with appropriate courts.

Review of Legal and Financial Documents: Review of Wills, Trust Documents, Financial Accounts, Creditor Claims, Titles and Deeds.

Case Management: Track and manage case progress, court deadlines, and statutory timelines to ensure timely administration and resolution of probate matters.

Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, gathering required information and documentation, and responding to inquiries under attorney supervision.

Asset Research and Documentation Gathering: Assist in identifying, valuing, and documenting estate assets and debts, including obtaining records from financial institutions, real estate entities, debt collection and government agencies.

Court and Third-Party Liaison: Communicate with courts personnel, financial institutions, and other third parties to facilitate the probate process and resolve case-related matters.

Document Organization and File Maintenance: Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files, including correspondence, legal documents, and supporting materials.

Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by firm leadership to support departmental operations and organizational objectives.
