Job Summary

The Powerhouse Operator is responsible for general operation and upkeep of steam water tube boilers and monitoring and operation of air and ammonia compressor equipment, performing water analysis and keeping related documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operates and maintains automatically controlled, gas-fired, high-pressure boilersOperates and maintains ammonia refrigeration equipment including chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and pumpsOperates and maintains air compressors and air dryersOperates and maintains water softening, RO, and chlorine dosing systemsTakes test samples and controls the addition of chemicals to water systemsOperates and maintains auxiliary equipment such as feed water pumpsMaintains proper water level and required steam pressure and supplies steam to meet plant load requirementsResponsible for routine maintenance of pumps, valves, lines, and other utility equipmentMonitors fire annunciation panel and computer monitor readouts of boiler room and refrigeration building equipmentPerforms cleaning and housekeeping assignments and any such duties as may be assigned by the supervisorMonitors and maintains all needed supplies and parts for safe and efficient operation of boiler room and auxiliary equipmentOperates and maintains CO2 purification and collection systemOperates and maintains well pump and diesel fire pumpPerforms all record-keeping duties, including data logging and filing, of boiler room equipment, maintenance procedures, ammonia compliance documentation, safety-related functions, and other miscellaneous eventsRequired involvement in HAZMAT and Emergency Response TeamClean and maintain the work areaPerform all duties within GMP standardsPerform additional duties as assigned
