About This Position
Reports to the Director, Corporate Communications. Responsible for the planning and development of key messages for Beacon's internal and external audiences, including Beacon Board Members, associates, executive leadership, media and the community. Supports the organization's strategic initiatives as defined by the Beacon Executive Leadership Team. Provides guidance, creative, tactical and critical thinking talents to uplift Beacon's culture and branding through digital and conventional communication channels.

Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
- Completing other job-related assignments and special projects as directed.
Provides guidance, creative and critical thinking talents to uplift Beacon's culture and branding through communication:
- Translating complex subjects for audiences in relatable ways.
- Developing comprehensive communications plans to maximize message reach for strategic initiatives.
- Developing social media content and ensuring maximum reach and engagement across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Workplace by Facebook.
- Serving as a point of contact and resource for departments for social media platforms.
- Collaborating with media relations team members to develop and share stories for external audiences.
- Detecting public relations issues as they emerge and addressing them.
- Participating actively in the corporate Incident Command structure alongside Beacon Health Executive Leadership to help manage crisis communications for internal and external audiences.
- Counseling executive leadership and other key Beacon leaders on potentially sensitive situations to positively influence and shape official organizational responses that foster the best outcomes.
- Working in partnership with Digital Transformation and Marketing teams to amplify messages and cross-promote brand and voice.
Develops, writes and edits internal and external communications in a timely and accurate manner by:
- Initiating ideas for creative copy development.
- Managing editorial review and revisions of materials.
- Participating in cross-functional teams to ensure immersion and understanding in the subject matter at hand.
- Maintaining relationships with key leaders to enhance and perpetuate communication.
- As needed, coordinating with external vendors to for communications projects.
- Setting and maintaining editorial standards for digital and print materials.
- Writing for the digital experience in a way that makes complex health concepts easy to understand.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts, digital designers, vendors and others to create high-quality content for digital channels.
- Adapting messages for multiple digital formats including long-form articles, computer-based learning modules, presentations, email, videos and others.
- Providing writing and editing support as needed for Beacon Marketing department, for service line materials, social media content, website content and email campaigns.
Utilizes multiple methods to steer the organization's communication goals by:
- Strategizing, writing and editing executive communication pieces for Beacon's Executive Leadership Team.
- Compiling and organizing supplementary materials (FAQ sheets, instructions, etc.).
- Storyboarding, taping and editing videos.
Monitors Beacon's social media properties, including:
- Evaluating traffic and comments on multiple social media platforms.
- Responding to direct messages from customers and/or assisting with connecting customers to the requested resource.
- Analyzing, monitoring and interpreting results of communications efforts and offering ideas for continual improvement.
Serves as a Workplace by Facebook platform administrator for Beacon Health System users by:
- Assisting with the continuous enrollment and platform orientation of new and existing Beacon associates on the platform, including in-person presentations and trainings, videos, creation and execution of campaigns, and instructional guides.
- Interfacing with key departments, including Information Systems and Information Security teams, to ensure the continual integrity and security of the platform.
- Managing communications related to updates and new features available on the platform.
- Maintaining and updating critical documents related to platform usage, including Computer Based Learning module (CBL), policies, Terms of Use, for example.
- Exploring and researching new capabilities and products to enhance Beacon's Workplace experience.
- Troubleshooting and answering questions from associates about logging in, Workplace app use, available features, for example.
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting or a related area from an accredited college or university.
- Ten years of professional writing and communications experience, and proficiency in social media and digital channels is required. Experience in content management systems, Microsoft Office and Adobe CS Suite is required.
- Experience in graphic design, photography and video production is preferred.

- Superior command of the English language and grammar.
- Excellent writing and grammar skills, with an ability to communicate to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrates a keen knowledge of current medical terminology, familiarity with the health care field, emerging trends and the complex nature of the hospital/health system business.
- Demonstrates a proficient knowledge of the current social media landscape and expertise in social media platforms including Workplace by Facebook digital platform.
- The ability to express clinical expertise without losing the humanity at the heart of the story.
- The ability to balance creative and conversational writing with analytical and medical writing skills. Able to hone in on details without losing the bigger picture.
- Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills necessary, including counseling executive leadership and other key Beacon leaders on potential sensitive situations, to thrive in a large and diverse organization.

Working Conditions
- Works in an office environment with occasional visual strain associated with computer work.
- May be required to travel to other locations (i.e. vendor meetings, professional seminars).
- May be periods of high stress due to the demands of highly visible deliverables and implications, along with intense time constraints.
