Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Superintendent at Corby Energy Services Inc – Belleville, Michigan

Position Summary

Corby Energy Services is seeking an experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Superintendent to lead and manage HDD operations across electric, natural gas, and telecommunications utility projects. This role oversees field crews, coordinates project execution, ensures safety and quality compliance, and delivers projects on schedule and within budget.

· Plan, schedule, and oversee HDD crews and daily field operations

· Provide leadership and management to drill operators, locators, and support crews

· Lead job preparation including bore planning, layout, and site coordination

· Coordinate with project managers, customers, inspectors, and other stakeholders

· Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards

· Monitor production, job costs, reporting, time tracking, and billing documentation

· Troubleshoot difficult ground conditions and complex HDD installations

· Mentor and develop field personnel

· 10–20 years of experience in underground utility construction

· Experience in electric, natural gas, and telecommunications utility work

· Hands-on experience with Vermeer 10x13 through 100x140 drill rigs or equivalent

· Proven leadership and crew management experience

· Ability to read and interpret plans, profiles, and utility drawings

· Background in large-diameter and long-length HDD bores

· Pay is commensurate with experience.
