A day in the life...

The runner/busser involves preparing the dining room before service by cleaning tables, stocking stations, and polishing glassware. During service, the role focuses on quickly and accurately delivering food to guests, clearing and resetting tables, refilling water, and supporting servers and kitchen staff to keep the floor running smoothly. After service, duties include wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, restocking supplies, taking out trash, and helping the team with closing tasks to ensure the restaurant is ready for the next shift.

You own this if you have ...

Main qualifications for a food runner/busser include a strong work ethic and the ability to stay active for long periods, along with good communication and teamwork skills. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain attention to detail when delivering orders, and provide a positive, customer-focused attitude. Basic knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards is important, as well as the ability to lift and carry trays, dishes, and bus tubs. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is also typically required.
