Vice President and Controller at KADON PRECISION MACHINING, LLC – Rockford, Illinois
About This Position
Under limited supervision, the Vice President & Controller will be the primary financial leader for the company ensuring all financial statements and data are free from error and in accordance with GAAP, tax law, and all other rules and regulations.
The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Direct oversight over all accounting functions including AP/AR, general ledger, fixed assets, inventory accounting, job costing, cash management, financial reporting, and compliance.
· Prepare timely and accurate monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Monthly close process to < 10 business days.
· Manage inventory accounting, valuation methods, and inventory management processes.
· Implement and refine costing systems, ensuring accurate job costing from estimate to completion.
· Lead the annual budgeting process across the organization, developing robust financial models and a monthly reporting package highlighting actual to budget/forecast and various KPI reporting as deemed appropriate for the Company by management.
· Prepare long-range financial forecasts, cash flow projections (including 13-week cash flow reporting), and growth scenarios to guide strategic planning.
· Analyze daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly financials and KPIs, identifying business drivers and areas for optimization.
· Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with best practices.
· Liaise with operations leadership on production planning, supply chain, capacity planning, capital expenditure planning and cost management.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and external audit requirements. The position will be the primary liaison with third party partners related to taxes and audit requirements.
· Assist in the acquisition process from participating in financial due diligence to the creation of the opening balance to the post-acquisition integration into the Company’s processes and systems.
· Create quarterly debt covenant calculations and associated reporting.
· Managing key external relationships, including the Company’s bank and certain vendors/customers
· Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering continuous process improvements.
Other Responsibilities
· Responsibility over the property and casualty insurance requirements and annual review of coverages, pricing, etc.
· Support the HR function of the Company, including worker’s compensation audits, health issuance renewals, etc.
· Support management and the Board in evaluating and monitoring add-on M&A opportunities and then participating in the post-merger integration process
· Board material preparation
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements:PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, visit customer facilities, including out-of-state and international travel, and travel between departments and divisions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will periodically have to travel through manufacturing departments. The employee may be required to travel, including internationally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA (active/inactive status) preferred
· Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience in manufacturing environments
· Proven track record of leading and influencing others.
· Expertise in GAAP, inventory accounting, job costing, financial reporting and analysis.
· Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (Power BI user a plus)
· Ability to drive process improvements and embrace lean manufacturing principles.
· Exceptional organizational, problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities.
· Professional, strong communicator and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
· Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
· Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses and safety shoes.
