Responsibilities
The HR Director is responsible for supporting two primary manufacturing facilities (approximately 425 and 180 full-time and temporary employees) and nine smaller manufacturing facilities (approximately 10 to 25 employees each). These sites are distributed throughout the U.S., including New Hampshire, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, and Oregon. This position is based at the largest location in Winchester, Kentucky.
This role leads the development and execution of HR strategies, policies, and programs across organizational development, staffing, employee relations, compensation, leadership coaching and training, talent development, performance management, and local compliance for the assigned locations. In partnership with site and functional leadership, the HR Director drives consistent, high-impact HR service delivery that supports business performance and a strong culture. The role also provides leadership oversight of administrative functions for the Kentucky location.
This position directly manages a team of three HR Generalists/Specialists and an Administrative Assistant and provides indirect leadership to a Payroll Specialist and a Benefits Specialist.
Job Description
- As a member of the HR Leadership Team, help shape and execute the business’s HR strategy.
- Partner with Operations leadership to ensure HR and Operations are aligned to meet the assigned units’ business needs.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, and Finance) to ensure cross-functional alignment and effective execution.
- Foster and promote an environment consistent with company values.
- Oversee assigned staff and functions of the HR and Administrative department, including direction, coordination, and evaluation of department activities.
- Lead annual people processes including performance management, talent management, the merit cycle, open enrollment, and other recurring HR programs.
- Support and lead employee engagement activities, educational opportunities, and initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Lead complex employee relations matters; provide guidance and coaching to employees and managers.
- Develop and implement training and development plans that build critical skills and competencies for current and future roles and meet regulatory requirements.
- Support recruiting efforts by helping design and drive sourcing strategies that attract high-caliber talent.
- Own relationships with third-party temporary staffing vendor(s) and ensure service levels meet business needs.
- Use analytics and KPIs to generate business insights and inform data-based decision-making.
- Play a key role in community engagement with technical schools, non-profits, and other community stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Human Resources experience demonstrating progressive leadership responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Human Resources preferred.
- Multi-site HR experience.
- Manufacturing HR experience supporting a 24/7 operation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid analytical skills – creation and utilization of dashboards, KPIs, etc.
- Ability to present effectively in group settings.
