About This Position

Description:

The Director of Human Resources & Environment, Health and Safety (Director, HR & EHS) is the senior operational leader responsible for the execution and day-to-day management of Human Resources and EHS programs across the organization.

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources & EHS, this role translates enterprise strategy into actionable plans, processes, and measurable results while ensuring alignment with the company’s core values, regulatory compliance, workforce effectiveness, and a strong culture of safety and accountability.

This position carries significant responsibility and exposure to confidential and sensitive employee, legal, regulatory, and business information. The Director is expected to maintain the highest standards of discretion, professionalism, sound judgment, and ethical conduct.

Key Qualifications:

Operational Leadership & Strategy Execution

  • Execute HR and EHS strategies, policies, and programs established by the VP of HR & EHS.
  • Lead day-to-day HR and EHS operations across all locations, ensuring consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Develop operational plans, workflows, KPIs, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy within approved frameworks, escalating enterprise-level risks and strategic matters as required.

Human Resources Leadership

  • Oversee execution of talent acquisition, onboarding, training and development, performance management, and workforce planning processes.
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and HR programs in alignment with approved strategies and budgets.
  • Lead employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations in compliance with employment law.
  • Ensure accurate HR data management, payroll coordination, and HRIS administration.
  • Support leadership development, structured training initiatives, and succession planning through disciplined implementation and follow-through.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leadership

  • Lead execution of EHS programs, training, and compliance activities across all sites.
  • Manage OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory compliance requirements, including audits and inspections.
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Track and report safety metrics and trends; recommend data-driven improvements.
  • Ensure contractor and vendor safety standards are implemented and enforced.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Own day-to-day compliance execution for HR and EHS policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and inspectors.
  • Maintain auditable documentation and prepare executive-level reporting.
  • Identify emerging regulatory and workforce risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, coach, and develop HR and EHS team members to ensure strong operational capability.
  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards for the team.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, confidentiality, and continuous improvement.
  • Reinforce Kinsley’s core values and commitment to safety across all business units.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Human Resources, Safety, Business, or related field).
  • 8–10+ years of progressive HR and/or EHS experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Experience in multi-site, field-based, industrial, construction, or regulated environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and EHS regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and executive-level decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP, SPHR, CSP, or similar certifications preferred.
