About This Position

ATA Services is currently seeking to hire a Tribal Projects Coordinator to work on a temporary assignment. This position is remote however, the applicant must live in New Mexico.

  • Pay Rate: $28.00 per hour with weekly pay
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Full time temporary
  • Remote – must live in New Mexico

The position of a second Health Educator fits into agency structure through provision of program support to the Office of the Tribal Liaison to assure that goals and objectives are met in strengthening communication and partnerships with New Mexico's American Indian nation, Pueblos, and Tribes in accordance with SB196; the State Tribal Consultation Act.

Functions include logistical support in coordinating meetings, stakeholders, task follow-up, agenda and minutes distribution; developing effective communication vehicles to exchange information with internal and external DOH, state, local, and federal partners as well as Tribal governments and programs; completion of written reports as requested (e.g., Indian Affairs Department annual State-Tribal Consultation Agency Report); implementation of work plan activities through outreach among American Indian Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes (NPTs); research as requested based on Tribal leadership inquiries. The Project Coordinator will work primarily with NPTs in the southern part of NM and work with the 10 Tribal Health councils across the state.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, Social Work, Public Administration, Native American Studies, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred (MPH, MPA, or related field).
  • Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in:
  • Public health program coordination or community health initiatives
  • Working with Tribal governments, American Indian Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes (NPTs), or Indigenous communities
  • Government or intergovernmental relations (state, local, federal, or Tribal)
  • Experience supporting meetings, stakeholder engagement, and work plan implementation.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with New Mexico Tribal Health Councils.
  • Knowledge of Indian Health Service (IHS) systems.
  • Experience developing communication vehicles (newsletters, briefings, stakeholder updates).
  • Bilingual (English and Native language or Spanish) a plus.
