About This Position
Description:
Primary Function:
Under the general supervision of the General Manager, will perform tasks and other work activities associated with the operation and maintenance for the Pike County Light & Power electric system located in Pike County, PA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Switching and Tagging (SCADA)
- Plan and schedule construction activities for company and contractor personnel
- Plan, schedule and implement maintenance and inspection programs on the electric system facilities
- Assure all construction employee and contractor personnel comply with PCLP Procedures and Standards, Pennsylvania Utility Commission Codes and Regulations, OSHA requirements and all other appropriate codes
- Arranges for contractor resources (when needed)
- Approve contractor timesheets and invoices
- Design primary metering for 3 phase jobs
- Design LTIIP projects
- Design regular system maintenance projects
- Included on Standby rotation
- Investigate trouble calls, tree complaints and performs damage assessing to identify or verify damage in field
- Organize restoration and repair efforts
- Provide restoration/repair information and statuses to all necessary departments
- Design and draft billing estimates for all phases of residential and commercial construction projects including but not limited to circuit improvements, expansions, new circuits, new construction, upgrades, dig ins, line conversions, incidents, relocation projects, reconductoring existing circuits and insurance claims
- Interface with customers and electricians for residential and commercial construction projects
- Schedule disconnects and reconnects
- Schedule planned outages
- Call in Dig Tickets
- Create, process and file right of way easements for state, federal, municipal and/or private premises
- Apply for required permits from PennDOT, state, county and municipal for all construction and maintenance activities
- Maintain and file completed design packets, sketches, material lists, permits, easements and costs
- Assist in the preparation of the construction and maintenance plans and budget
- Liaison for state, federal and local municipalities during projects and at site meetings
- Liaison for cable TV, solar, telecommunications contractors and customers
- Size step banks, 3 phase transformers, 1 phase transformers
- Check amps added to circuit and balance load
- Perform load studies
- Perform voltage investigations
- Update pole asset records
- Update transformer cards and logs
- Update service requirement manuals
- Update constructions and material books
- Maintain database of all electric construction activity
- Maintain database of electric inspection and maintenance programs
- Track open Work Orders
- Close out Work Orders
- Completes Service Orders and provide to Customer Service Department
- Performs flagging (when needed)
- Deliver material to site (when needed)
- Request inventory orders from Purchasing Department
- Verify material quoted and received adheres to PCLP specifications
- Verify detailed drawings on 3 phase and single transformers, switches, impedance
- Assist in maintaining the warehouse
- Unload tractor trailers (when needed)
- Sends updates to mapping editor
- Prepares damaged transformers for pick up to be refurbished or scrapped
- Determines the appropriate streetlight and private area light requirements
- Interface with Public Utility Commission field inspection staff
- Request the purchase, maintenance and repair of special tools and equipment required
Please note, the Senior Planner position is a union position under IBEW Local 777.
Requirements:Specific Requirements of the Job:
(i.e., education, licensing, certification, registration)
- High School Education
- Basic computer skills
- Able to pass drug testing requirements from various governmental agencies
- Able to perform all the duties of Storekeeper/Designer – 1st Class; Storekeeper/Designer – 2nd Class; and Senior Storekeeper-Designer
- 2 years’ experience as a Senior Storekeeper-Designer or equivalent
Physical Requirements of the Job:
- You must have the ability to work extended overtime
