About This Position
Description:
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of food safety and quality assurance processes and programs at our egg processing facility. This role will lead the quality team, manage compliance programs, and support continuous improvement throughout our processing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and monitor all food safety programs, including HACCP plans, biosecurity protocols, and environmental monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, HACCP, and all relevant customer requirements.
- Manage the regulatory relationship with USDA-FSIS program personnel including the weekly meeting and any regulatory findings.
- Lead the Quality Control team to ensure proper execution of inspections, testing, process controls and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily quality and food safety operations across egg production, washing, grading, breaking, and packaging lines.
- Collaborate closely with plant operations, maintenance and sanitation teams to ensure product quality.
- Investigate quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformances; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for third-party audits, USDA/FSIS inspections, and customer visits.
- Monitor and analyze quality data; develop and report on trends and improvement plans.
- Create and coordinate training for plant employees on food safety, egg handling best practices, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Quality Assurance or food safety experience in a food manufacturing environment - preferably in egg or poultry processing.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in QA roles.
- Working knowledge of USDA food regulations and third-party audit programs.
- HACCP certification required and SQF certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and work in a fast-paced environment.
