About This Position
Summary: The Burn Table Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring plasma and oxy-fuel cutting tables to manufacture parts according to specification. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards to ensure quality production and workplace safety.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
· Set up, operate, and adjust plasma and oxy-fuel burn tables.
· Confirm job specifications, materials, and tooling before production.
· Interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances
· Monitor table performance, make necessary adjustments, and report issues promptly.
· Inspect products using standard measuring tools to verify accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
· Perform strip-burning and layout adjustments at the burn table to maximize plate utilization.
· Record production data and quality checks accurately and on time.
· Adjust cutting parameters as needed and review nesting layouts for accuracy, spacing, and heat-affected zone requirements to ensure optimal burn quality
· Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance of burn tables.
· Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate mechanical or safety concerns to maintenance or supervisor.
· Load and unload materials, including use of forklifts or hoists when required.
· Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with 5S standards.
· Collaborate with team members to achieve productivity, quality, and delivery goals.
· Participate in continuous improvement activities and provide feedback for process optimization.
· Perform other duties as needed or assigned to support operational requirements.
Requirements:Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Required:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical certification in machining or manufacturing is a plus.
· One (1) year of manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, production drawings, and measurement specifications.
· Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and cutting equipment.
· Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
· Proficiency in basic mathematics, including the ability to accurately read and interpret tape measures and blueprints
· Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
