Summary: The Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance team and supports the overall accounting operations for Cobalt Truck Equipment. This role assists with financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. The Assistant Controller helps oversee day-to-day accounting functions, supports the development of staff, and partners with leadership to ensure accurate financial information and efficient processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Analyze financial data to identify variances and support decision making.
- Oversee daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll review, and general ledger functions.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial documentation.
- Assist with job costing, inventory tracking, and margin analysis.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Support external audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
- Help maintain records, documentation, and financial files in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to accounting staff.
- Review teamwork for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist the Controller and senior management with special projects and process improvements.
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and HR to support cross functional financial needs.
- Support ERP/accounting system improvements and report development.
- Other duties as needed
Minimum Requirements
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger and financial reporting.
- 2–3 years of experience in a senior accountant or Assistant Controller level role preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, or equipment industries preferred.
- Proficiency with ERP systems; experience in job costing environments is highly beneficial.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
- Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and process improvement skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Work Environment
Primarily office based within our Nampa facility. Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Regular collaboration with operations, sales, and shop leadership is required. Extended hours may be necessary during reporting periods.
