Senior Accountant at SOUTHSIDE MEDICAL CENTER – Atlanta, Georgia

Reports to the Controller. Assists in preparing consolidated monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Prepares monthly cash flow statements and provides written interpretation of variances. Analyzes monthly financial statements to determine proper charging of operating revenues and expenditures.

Position Description:

1. Assists management in forecasting by historical information and performing data analysis.

2. Makes recommendations to improve financial systems; performs in-house audits of operating units; analyzes deficiencies and reports to the Controller.

3. Reconciles the general ledger accounts for all assets and liabilities on a quarterly basis.

4. Plays a key role in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes

5. Prepares cost reports.

6. Assists with departmental budget preparation and monitors budget variances.

7. Assist the CFO and Controller in data analysis.

8. Assists with external annual and local audits.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other accounting guidelines

2. Must be able to assist in establishing sound workflow accounting procedures where needed

3. Good attention to details and work independently

4. Proficient in spreadsheet applications

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master Degree in Accounting, preferable. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 7 years of solid diversified accounting experience required.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires sitting for long periods of time. Working in office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Working under stress and use of telephone is required. Manual dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboard.

Normal office environment. May require working some evenings or weekends
