Direct Support Professional

POSITION TITLE: Direct Support Professional - 2nd Shift Available & Weekends 2nd Shift

LOCATION: Nashville, TN

STATUS: Part Time, Hourly

PROGRAM: Developmental Disabilities Services

REPORTS TO: Home Manager

INTRODUCTION

Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is a non-profit organization serving four states. Our mission is to create positive change in people's lives and strengthen communities. We provide housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors. We also offer care and support for people with developmental disabilities, promote restorative justice, and provide free HIV testing and education.

JOB SUMMARY & QUALIFICATIONS:
This position provides direct care, training, and assistance to individuals in daily living, self-care, recreation, skill development, and work readiness. You will also help protect and uphold the rights of the people you support.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent skills and experience)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the comfort and safety of individuals served, meeting their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs.
  • Interact in a supportive and therapeutic way, using effective methods to encourage positive behavior.
  • Provide transportation and assist individuals in participating in community and social activities.
  • Help with general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry.
  • Keep the home clean and well-maintained through regular cleaning tasks.
  • Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
