About This Position

Lincoln, NE - April Sampson Cancer Center

The Front Desk position in the Rehabilitation Department with Cancer Partners of Nebraska serves as the front line for the rehab team, greeting patients, collecting payments, verifying billing information and performing all clerical duties necessary to prepare patients for visits. Preferred applicants will have medical/clinic experience to be considered.

Essential Duties:

  • Greets patients in polite, prompt, and helpful manner. Provides any necessary instructions and/or directions and assists patients with any ambulatory difficulties.
  • Check in patients, verify and update all information in computer; collect co-pays.
  • Check out patients by scheduling follow up appointments, as needed.
  • Maintain patient reception area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Schedule staff and representative breakfasts and/or luncheons.
  • Balance co-pays and cash drawer at the end of each workday.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned periodically by supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalence.
  • Preferred successful completion of certified/certificate-eligible post high school two-year Health Information Technology program, Certified Medical Assistant or equivalent with education, experience and certification.
  • Preferred one year reception experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Computer keyboarding required.
  • Word, Excel and Outlook software experience.
  • Preferred insurance prior authorization experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in customer service, communications, problem solving, organization and confidentiality (HIPPA).
  • Ability to act in a professional and positive manner in greeting and interacting with patients.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing and on the phone in the English language.
  • Ability to work well with others and on a team environment.

Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Office setting, well-ventilated and well-lighted
  • Interaction with patients and staff is constant and interruptive.
  • Extended periods of time sitting during the 8 hour day.
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Vision must be corrected to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range.
  • Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional stress related to workload and patients with problems.
