Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Phlebotomy/Processing Supervisor, the Phlebotomist plays a vital role in supporting accurate diagnoses by safely and efficiently collecting blood specimens. This position is responsible for performing venipuncture, ensuring proper specimen handling, and completing data collection and entry with precision and confidentiality.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages
  • Accurately label, process, and accession specimens in accordance with established protocols
  • Enter patient and specimen data into laboratory systems with a high level of accuracy
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure a positive patient experience
  • Collaborate effectively with clinical and laboratory teams

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Graduate of a Certified Phlebotomy Program preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • At least one (1) year of experience at Emerson Hospital preferred

Licensure and/or Certification

  • None required

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Proficiency with computer systems and data entry
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
