INTRODUCTION:
The Accounting Department’s function is to pay, post, receive, balance and reconcile the Tribal financial records. Occasionally, an employee may be required to perform other duties that are not in their current job description. The Accounting Department operates as a team in accomplishing all activities.
DUTIES:
Supervise Accounts Receivable and Grants Accounting,; and occasionally may act as departmental supervisor in Controller’s absence
Manage related daily banking functions
Reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts
Edit daily and weekly transactional entries and receipts
Investigate and prepare corrections for errors found in revenue documents
Conduct monthly exception reporting and aging report review
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; as required.
Prepare schedules and summaries; as needed.
Prepare monthly interest allocation
Complete bank reconciliations, as assigned
Assist with internal and external audits and program reviews.
Provide revenue and expenditure reports to Program Staff; as requested.
Maintain and reconcile the departmental petty cash fund.
Provide technical assistance regarding expenditure compliance in accordance with Tribal policies, GAAP and OMB regulations.
Oversee draw of funds from Grants and Contracts on a regular and timely basis.
Ensure grant financial reports are completed as required.
Assist in the preparation of the annual SEFA for audit
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business and two-years’ experience in full charge accounting -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. One year of direct supervisory experience is preferred.
Knowledge in:
A full charge computerized accounting system.
Government Program contracts and grants
Fund accounting; preferred
Ability to:
Communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely
Analyze and interpret financial data for accuracy
Read and understand financial documents and reports
Other:
Possess solid interpersonal skills
Must be able to occasionally work weekends and evenings
