The Senior Quality Engineer I is a high-visibility technical leadership role acting as the primary quality bridge between Western customers and Asian manufacturing teams. You will lead a regional team of Quality Engineers (US and UK) to represent the "voice of the customer" during technical crises. This role combines senior engineering depth with the diplomacy needed to resolve complex quality issues and drive internal engineering changes to prevent recurrence.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Act as the technical authority when product design complaints arise, translating customer feedback into formal internal engineering change requirements.
  • Set and manage expectations, lead regular Quality Reviews, and build long-term trust through responsive, transparent communication.

Regional Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor Quality Engineers in the US and UK to provide a unified, expert response to customer complaints and technical inquiries.

Crisis & Complaint Resolution

  • Lead end-to-end resolution of complex product and service issues, driving root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Work closely with the Application Engineering team to resolve issues related to the connector termination and cable assembly production processes.

Global Manufacturing Bridge

  • Coordinate directly with Asia-based factories to ensure rapid turnarounds on technical investigations and the implementation of documented outcomes.

Sales Partnership

  • Partner closely with Sales to visit customer sites, specifically for urgent quality issues to perform hands-on troubleshooting and restore customer trust.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of customer needs and ensure inclusion in all connectivity-related inquiries, facilitating swift technical responses

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent working experience
  • 8–10 years in technical manufacturing environments, preferably in Fiber Optics, Telecom, electronics, or semiconductors.
  • Understanding of precision parts and the assembly/termination processes for optical interconnect components is a plus.
  • Security/Confidentiality: Handle customer data and proprietary information according to company policy.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving, stakeholder management, and written/verbal communication skills. High detail orientation.
  • Ability to navigate cross-cultural, cross-time-zone collaboration with manufacturing teams.
  • Comfortable traveling to customer sites (20–30%) and working hands-on with technical teams.
