Position Summary
The Pipe Layer is responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. This position ensures trenches are excavated and prepped according to specifications, aligns pipes, seals joints, and works closely with the pipe crew to install water and sewer mains. The hourly pay rate is dependent on experience.
What You'll Do
- Set up lasers with grades and verify percentage slopes on drawings
- Configure pipe routes, align pipeline sections, and ensure proper spacing and alignment
- Grade trenches or culverts and install manholes, valves, and fittings
- Seal joints and ensure proper fit and alignment using grade rods or transit levels
- Cover installed pipes with soil or other materials to secure them in place
- Work with various materials including PVC, metal, HDPE, and fiberglass pipes
- Operate hand and power tools as required for trenching and installation
- Follow all required safety rules, policies, and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in water and sewer utility construction
- Experience setting up to 48" sewer and installing fiberglass manholes
- Experience with bypass pumping preferred
- Knowledge of working with PVC, metal, HDPE, or fiberglass pipes
- Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools
- Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks (lifting, climbing, bending, standing)
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends as needed
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well within a team environment
