Summary
The Banquet Server is responsible for the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet and meeting spaces in accordance with hotel standards and client requirements. This role provides food and beverage service for both banquet and restaurant-style menus while ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction through courteous, efficient, and professional service. The position is a hybrid role that supports banquet operations, including aspects of banquet portering and bartending as required.
Responsibilities:
- Set up meeting rooms, banquet spaces, and food and beverage stations according to event orders and hotel standards.
- Prepare and arrange food, beverages, linens, décor, and amenities as required.
- Inspect rooms prior to event start times to ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and readiness.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and professional food and beverage service to guests.
- Serve a combination of banquet and restaurant-style menu items in accordance with service standards.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond efficiently to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
- Greet guests and assist with seating, directions, or general inquiries as needed.
- Maintain a professional, approachable, and attentive demeanor at all times.
- Provide accurate information regarding hotel services, facilities, and local attractions.
- Address guest concerns or complaints promptly and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas, meeting rooms, storage areas, and equipment.
- Replenish food, beverages, and supplies throughout service to ensure continuous availability.
- Reset rooms and service stations between events efficiently.
- Perform cleaning duties including vacuuming, wiping surfaces, spot-cleaning, and dusting.
- Ensure service hallways and back-of-house areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Operate all equipment safely and in accordance with hotel policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards, including WHMIS requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding guest needs, event changes, and service requirements.
- Assist with transporting equipment, dishes, and supplies to designated areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support banquet operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 19 years of age (required to serve alcoholic beverages).
- Valid Serving It Right certification required for alcohol service and bartending.
- WHMIS certification required.
- Previous banquet, restaurant, or hospitality experience is an asset.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, workflows, and event requirements.
- Basic math skills.
- Reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry trays and equipment weighing up to 65 lbs.
- Ability to move, set up, and dismantle tables, chairs, and other event equipment.
- Capable of prolonged standing, walking, and frequent physical movement throughout shifts.
Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Dakota Dunes Resort is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
