Interior Design Assistant at JD Development Group – Markham, Ontario

We are looking for a Junior–Intermediate Interior Design & Material Assistant to support our design and material team.

This role focuses on CAD drawings, material selection, and interior furnishing coordination, while also assisting with daily design-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Interior Design & CAD Support

Assist in preparing CAD drawings (plans, elevations, details)
Support design development and revisions
Organize and maintain drawing files

2. Material & Finishes Selection

Assist in selecting and coordinating materials (flooring, wall panels, tiles, etc.)
Prepare material boards and sample packages
Coordinate with suppliers for samples and specifications

3. Interior Furnishing & Styling

Support interior furnishing selection (furniture, lighting, decor)
Assist in show suite / model unit setup
Coordinate with vendors for sourcing and installation

4. Coordination & Daily Support

Assist in communication with project teams and suppliers
Help manage schedules, materials tracking, and design updates
Support ad hoc tasks from the design/material manager

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of experience in interior design or related field
• Proficient in AutoCAD (must-have)
• Experience in interior furnishing or styling is a strong asset
• Good sense of design, color, and materials
• Familiar with SketchUp, Photoshop, or similar tools is an asset
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to support team tasks
