About This Position

Data Center Electrical Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Center Electrical Engineer in United States.

This role is responsible for designing and shaping the critical electrical infrastructure that powers large-scale, high-density data center environments supporting advanced computing workloads. You will work on end-to-end electrical systems design, from building service entrance through rack-level power distribution, ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency in mission-critical facilities. The position involves close collaboration with engineering partners, hardware teams, and supply chain stakeholders to translate rapidly evolving compute requirements into robust electrical architectures. You will contribute to reference designs, technical standards, and vendor selection while ensuring alignment with high availability and performance goals. The environment is highly technical and fast-evolving, requiring strong engineering judgment and comfort operating in uncharted design territory. This is a high-impact role where your work directly enables next-generation AI and compute infrastructure at scale.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will design, validate, and optimize electrical infrastructure systems for large-scale data centers, ensuring high reliability, efficiency, and scalability across mission-critical environments.

  • Develop and maintain electrical basis of design, reference architectures, and technical standards for data center power distribution systems.
  • Design and review systems including switchgear, UPS, PDUs, busway, and rack-level power delivery infrastructure.
  • Review and approve electrical design packages from external engineering partners and ensure compliance with performance and reliability requirements.
  • Perform detailed power system studies such as short-circuit, load flow, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
  • Collaborate with hardware, compute, and supply chain teams to align electrical designs with evolving high-density compute requirements.
  • Evaluate and qualify electrical equipment vendors and support multi-supplier strategies to mitigate risk and improve scalability.
  • Drive standardization of electrical designs across multiple data center sites to accelerate deployment and improve consistency.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction, commissioning, and testing phases, resolving field issues and validating system performance.
  • Support innovation in modular and prefabricated electrical solutions to improve deployment speed and efficiency.
Requirements:

This role requires deep expertise in electrical engineering for mission-critical facilities, particularly within large-scale data center or high-availability environments.

  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in mission-critical infrastructure or data center environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong experience designing and reviewing electrical distribution systems and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in power systems analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Deep understanding of data center power topologies (2N, N+1, distributed redundancy, block redundancy).
  • Experience with high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems and equipment specification.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 70/70E, IEEE standards).
  • Experience working with electrical equipment vendors and evaluating technical specifications.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in prefabricated or modular data center infrastructure is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus but not required.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $320,000 to $405,000
  • Equity or performance-based compensation opportunities (where applicable)
  • Fully remote or flexible hybrid work model depending on role requirements
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge, large-scale AI and compute infrastructure
  • High-impact engineering role shaping next-generation data center architecture
  • Collaborative, technically advanced, and mission-driven environment
  • Strong emphasis on innovation, ownership, and engineering excellence
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance (typical of senior engineering roles)
  • Generous paid time off and family leave policies
