This senior commercial leadership role is responsible for driving regional growth across a multi-product employee benefits portfolio, including Life, Absence & Disability, and Voluntary Benefits. The position leads a dispersed sales organization across the Western region, shaping strategy, performance, and execution in a highly competitive market. It combines strategic leadership with hands-on market engagement, particularly with brokers, consultants, and distribution partners. The role plays a key part in strengthening enterprise sales alignment, improving retention, and expanding new business opportunities. It also focuses on building a high-performance sales culture grounded in accountability, coaching, and collaboration. Operating in a dynamic and evolving benefits landscape, the role requires strong market insight and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead and execute a comprehensive regional sales strategy aligned with enterprise growth objectives, ensuring consistent delivery across new business, retention, and profitability targets.
- Oversee and develop geographically dispersed sales teams, providing coaching, leadership, and performance management to strengthen execution and accountability.
- Drive integration of employee benefits product lines into a unified market approach, improving coordination across Life, Absence & Disability, and Voluntary Benefits offerings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, consultants, and distribution partners across the Western region to expand market reach and influence.
- Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, marketing, product, enrollment, and client management teams to support seamless client delivery and strategic initiatives.
- Lead talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness efforts to build a high-performing and scalable sales organization.
- Support enterprise-wide initiatives such as national account growth, voluntary benefits expansion, and digital transformation efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in the employee benefits industry.
- 5+ years of senior sales leadership experience managing multi-level or geographically distributed teams.
- Proven track record of success in driving growth across group and/or voluntary employee benefits markets.
- Strong credibility and established relationships with brokers and consultants within the Western U.S. region.
- Deep understanding of regional market dynamics, competitive landscape, and distribution models in employee benefits.
- Experience leading organizational change, integration, or transformation within a complex sales environment.
- Preferred: experience with integrated benefits sales organizations, national accounts, or complex distribution systems.
- Preferred: industry certifications such as CLU, CEBS, or RHU.
- Life and Health license (or ability to obtain) required.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
- Competitive compensation structure including base salary, performance incentives, and potential bonuses.
- Base salary starting at $180,000+ depending on experience, plus eligibility for incentive programs.
