Position Information
Under general supervision, the Farm Machinery Mechanic maintains and repairs trucks (light to heavy duty), tractors, agricultural farm equipment, turf machinery, and farm implements for both Riverside and Coachella research stations. Duties include field service trucks lubrication, refueling, major and minor repairs, welding, metal fabrication, tire service, inspections, and safe operation of shop tools and equipment. Performs related duties as assigned to support Agricultural Operations.The full salary range for the Farm Machine Mechanic is $30.42 - $40.96 per hour. However, the expected pay rate for this position is $30.42 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

| Knowledge of computer systems used for data entry; Ability to use computer to be able to navigate OEM Websites to look up parts, schematics, diagrams, and technical bulletins. |
| Skills in automotive, farm machinery, transmission, hydraulic repair, welding, and metal fabrication; proficient with hand and power tools. |
| Knowledge of 12- and 24‑volt electrical systems and safety regulations. |
| Ability to operate a forklift. |
| Ability to operate a service truck for field repairs. |
| Ability to prepare and maintain maintenance records. |
| Working knowledge of Environmental Health & Safety regulations. |
| Ability to communicate in English and follow written/oral instructions. |
| Ability to work in extreme temperatures, lift 50 lbs., and work outdoors in dusty environments. |
| Ability to clear background checks and participate in DMV pull notice. |
| Strong general farming background. |
| Knowledge of safe work procedures around hazardous products. |
