About This Position

POSITION TITLE: Harvest Technician

REPORTS TO: Harvest Assistant Manager and Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (full-time and part-time)

DEPARTMENT: Harvest

LOCATION: Grow West MD (975 Kelly RD)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Harvest Technician is responsible for performing all phases of harvest production within a regulated cannabis facility. This role supports harvest operations by executing harvesting, trimming, drying, sanitation, compliance, and quality control processes. The Harvest Technician must adhere strictly to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), OSHA regulations, COMAR standards, and all applicable state cannabis regulations.WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time and part-time non-exempt position and may require scheduled weekend or extended hours. Overtime must be pre-approved by your manager.

  • Employees are expected to report to their assigned work area and be ready to work at their designated shift start time in accordance with company attendance policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Harvest & Post-Harvest Operations

  • Perform all phases of harvest production, including harvesting, trimming, drying, shucking, de-budding.
  • Ability to meet the company production goals on a daily basis.
  • Notify management at least one (1) hour prior to any scheduling changes.
  • Promote a positive and respectful workplace culture by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and effective communication with all team members, leadership, and other departments.
  • Weigh, hang, dry, and process harvested plant material in accordance with SOPs.
  • Conduct precise trimming and plant breakdown to preserve product quality.
  • Ability to shift to other production areas to support operational needs.

Inventory & Compliance Tracking

  • Demonstrated knowledge of accurate weighing, labeling, and documentation of cannabis flower.
  • Strong understanding of weight tracking and unit conversions (pounds, ounces, grams, etc.) to ensure proper inventory control and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform quality control checks in drying rooms and during trimming and harvesting processes.
  • Properly handle, segregate, and document waste materials in accordance with COMAR standards and company procedures.

Key Expectations / Competencies

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of product terminology, including shake, popcorn, mold, seeds, and other relevant classifications.
  • Ability to adapt efficiently within established workflows and adjust to operational changes as needed.
  • Accurately trim products while consistently meeting appropriate daily quotas.
  • Identify and communicate any product abnormalities or issues in a timely manner.
  • Effectively relay information that may impact procedures, quality, or workflow.

Equipment & Sanitation

  • Safely operate harvest, trimming equipment and tools.
  • Maintain a daily understanding of harvest processes and equipment operation.
  • Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions that may interfere with production needs to a supervisor immediately.
  • Clean and sanitize all tools, workstations, and equipment daily in accordance with SOPs and sanitation protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Follow all company SOPs, OSHA guidelines, and applicable safety regulations when handling chemicals, solvents, and production materials.
  • Adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for designated work areas.
  • Comply with all state cannabis regulations and facility security protocols.

Other Duties:

  • Complete all required Zywave training courses in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support operational success.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time. While performing the job employee is regularly required to stand or sit for an eight to ten-hour shift. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop; knee, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include both close vision and distant vision. Exposure to non-weather-related temperatures and humid conditions. Work may be performed in a closed or locked facility providing safety and security for workers and products in accordance with state laws and regulations.

As part of your work at Grow West MD, you may be exposed to environmental conditions inherent to cannabis operations, including, but not limited to, odors and volatile compounds, pollen, plant particles, and other allergens. Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and needed, report any symptoms or concerns to the manager.
