About This Position
Description: Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) seeks a Maintenance Technician to provide general maintenance and sanitation services to 3 apartment buildings and offices located in South Lake Tahoe and 1 office located in Placerville.
The position is responsible for all sanitation activities, including general daily cleaning, work order requests, and special projects at all of our properties in South Lake Tahoe and occasional service to an office in Placerville. The Maintenance Technician must have a working knowledge of building systems and experience in maintenance of residential and commercial properties. The position is required to maintain proper documentation and must be comfortable using a computer to maintain digital records, communicate by email and order supplies.
The Maintenance Technician will work closely with on-site staff and must have a positive attitude towards teamwork, communication, and problem solving. The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and does not have any supervisory duties.
Goal: To ensure that staff work safely and efficiently, and that residents live in safe, high-quality, well-maintained housing units and ensure all properties are in compliance with local, state and federal housing standards
Specific Duties:
Provide semi-skilled or skilled general maintenance based on assignment; which may include, but is not limited to:
Fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair
Changing door locks
Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems
Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
Provide custodial services including landscaping such as raking pine needles, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, carpet cleaning, snow removal, and trash removal.
Work closely with a supervisor, and on-site staff to ensure a strong team approach to supporting residents and maintaining safe grounds and buildings.
Ensure proper documentation of all projects, work orders, and other records related to sanitation.
Assume a stewardship approach to property management that reflects pride in service and general caretaker role, rather than requiring frequent task-based direction from others.
Express compassion and empathy for residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Follow all inspection and safety procedures/requirements of funders and localities which may include, but are not limited to the City, County, State of California, and Federal governments.
Hours: Work schedule is flexible based on employee needs and property demands. Schedules may be subject to change as needed and overtime hours may be required to address emergency issues. Also open to an alternative schedule of 10hr days as requested.
Rate: The hourly rate for this position is $22-$27 /hr.
Benefits: Compensation includes a paid portion of company provided healthcare benefits and paid time off. A cell phone stipend will be provided. Additional benefits are provided, as required by applicable law.
Location: The primary work location is in South Lake Tahoe at three residential properties, occasional work may be required at one office located in Placerville.

Must maintain a valid Driver’s License, driving record that meets minimum qualifications, and minimum automobile insurance coverage
Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries with clients.
Solid understanding of technical aspects of carpentry, maintenance, and custodial/sanitation guidelines.
Applicable knowledge of proper tools and equipment.
Ability to work effectively in constantly changing and sometimes demanding or stressful environments.
Ability to remain alert and on duty throughout shifts.
Ability to respond responsibly in emergency and crisis situations.
Ability to work in changing weather conditions and harsh elements such as sun, rain, and snow.
Ability to communicate well both orally and in written form, and follow detailed instructions.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Ability to effectively interact with clients, co-workers, and volunteers with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and treat each individual with respect, dignity, and compassion.
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, sit, stand, bend, reach, and perform cleaning duties.
Pass a criminal background check.
Snow plowing management experience a plus
Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
OSHA certification/training and HQS Certification a plus
