Design Studio for Social Intervention
Overview
The Design Studio for Social Intervention (DS4SI)(ds4si.org) partners with communities, artists, and social justice practitioners to imagine, demonstrate, and collectively rebuild places to be more just and vibrant. Situated at the intersections of design thinking and practice, social justice and activism, public art and social practice and civic / popular engagement, DS4SI designs and tests social interventions with and on behalf of marginalized populations, controversies and ways of life. DS4SI is a fiscally sponsored program of TSNE (tsne.org).
Responsibilities
The Methodology and Research Lead will collaborate across DS4SIs to develop new writings and methodology that can be shared internally and externally, bringing to bear their expertise in the following ways:
Essential Functions
- Manage and lead specific projects such as the publication of the 20 Questions book, Pattern Lab, etc.
- Act as a thought partner and cowriter for future publications such as response articles and/or the next DS4SI publication
- Work with the founders to develop new methodology projects
- Act as a project manager on the methodology side as needed
- Supporting the methodology team in thinking and holding time and space for thinking and writing
- Provide ongoing research support to DS4SI’s methodology team
- Provide support to residency planning process through research and structural development
- Help to increase DS4SI’s capacity to train methodologies externally
- Audit DS4SI events and programming as requested
- Attend relevant meetings with DS4SI collaborators
Qualifications
We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.
- At least 8 years of experience in thought leadership and methodology development
- At least 5 years experience with producing writing, individually and with others
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong time and task management skills
- Respect for economic and cultural diversity, experience working with diverse groups of people
- Highly motivated and independent, yet team-oriented
Physical Demands/Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to:
- May require extended periods at a computer.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate;

Compensation and Benefits
Location: Work will be primarily performed 7 Ramsey St., Dorchester MA 02125 .
Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $35.00/hr to $42.06/hr and is commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This position is not eligible for benefits.
