A Network WAN Engineer designs, implements, and manages an organization's wide area network infrastructure, focusing on MPLS, SD-WAN, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) to ensure secure, high-performance connectivity. They troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize network hardware and performance, often supporting remote locations and collaborating with vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Implementation: Create, test, and deploy WAN/LAN solutions, including SD-WAN, MPLS, VPN, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Network Optimization: Monitor performance, conduct audits, and upgrade infrastructure to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Resolve complex connectivity issues (Level 2/3 support), perform root cause analysis, and manage network outages.
- Hardware Management: Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network appliances.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, procedures, and security protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of WAN technologies (MPLS, SD-WAN), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), QoS, and VPNs.
- Experience: Previous experience in network engineering, particularly in enterprise-level environments.
- Certifications: Cisco CCNA/CCNP or similar, CompTIA Network+.
- Tools: Familiarity with monitoring tools, ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow)
Typical Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
