About This Position
Summary of Position:
Under limited supervision, this role leads the formula design, validation and implementation of new products, line extensions, product improvements and cost savings initiatives. This role will also serve as technical assistance to the manufacturing sites and supervisor.
Essentials for the Role:
- Self-directed, independent contributor applying technical skills in problem resolution and execution of development from bench to production scale for new products and product improvements
- Lead higher-level technically complex projects and contribute through cross-functional team to execute (Operations, QA, Procurement, Sales, etc.)
- Ability to understand manufacturing processes and their implications on formula development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that allow for flexible interactions with R&D, Operations, Food Safety and Business team members
- Highly engaged in the organization’s commercialization processes
- Independently seek out, apply and share knowledge of competitive activities, industry trends and emerging technology
- Utilize technical knowledge to mentor others and drive increased technical depth across the R&D organization
- Subject Matter Expert who contributes significantly, directly, and continually to attain results through the generation and application of advanced, specialized knowledge in functional ingredients that drive performance and claims
- Identify problems and drive cross-functional exploration to determine root cause with a focus on developing corrective action; apply corrective action to future projects to reduce repeat problem resurrection
- Understand and apply product requirements, plant equipment capabilities and processes to drive technology across businesses in problem resolution
- Identify and develop research programs to drive cost optimization through formulation and processing efficiencies

You’ll fit right in if you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required: Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry or related field
- 7 - 10 years of technical experience in industry
- Technical knowledge and leadership in baking, dough and/or griddle products formulations and associated technologies
- Ability and desire to lead and educate others in technical activities such as formulation and experimental design
- Ability to communicate effectively and openly while working with a cross-functional team
- Must be a self-starter, independent, organized, energetic, and resourceful
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Aptitude for technical leadership and project management
- Invests time and effort in professional development and supporting customer-centric culture.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional manufacturing and R&D lab environment. Must be able to conduct themselves accordingly. Lab hygiene and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) must be followed.
Physical Demands:
Role is a hybrid of computer-based work and lab/product development-based work. May require lifting boxes of up to 40 lbs. Expected Work Hours:
This is a full-time position. The employee must be available during “core” business hours between 8:00-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Travel:
25 – 35% Headquarters in TN and 3 Manufacturing Facilities in PA
