Welder/Fabricator candidate will construct, repair and shapes metal parts and structures from raw materials using specialized tools and welding techniques (MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW). They read blueprints, cut, bend, and assemble components, ensuring finished products meet strict safety and technical specifications, often working in manufacturing or structural construction environments.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Fabrication & Welding: Manufacture metal products by cutting, forming, and welding components together according to blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Analyze technical drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to determine project specs.

- Material Prep: Calculate measurements, layout parts, and cut, shear, or bend metal using equipment like plasma cutters, ironworkers, and saws.
- Welding Processes: Perform high-quality MIG, TIG, or Stick welding, including filling bevels and creating fillets on Various metal types.
- Finishing & Inspection: Grind, sand, and clean finished products, and test welds for durability and accuracy.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on welding machinery and tools.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of metal types, fabrication tools, and welding processes (MIG/TIG/FCAW).
- Reading Blueprints: Ability to interpret complex engineering plans and weld symbols.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to measurements and weld quality.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy materials, work in awkward positions, and stand for extended periods.
- Safety Conscious: Thorough knowledge of safety procedures (PPE, safety protocols).
Typical Working Environment
- Full-time positions, often including day shifts and overtime.
- Work environments include manufacturing plants, repair shops, or construction sites.
- Physical work, often requiring the use of grinders, pneumatic tools, and overhead cranes.
- Candidate should know how to drip and tap holes. Experience with sanitary welding and food industry.
