This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for driving the design, delivery, and evolution of a modern data platform built on Databricks. You will act as a hands-on engineering leader, bridging architecture and execution to ensure scalable, reliable, and high-performance data systems. The role plays a key part in enabling analytics, reporting, and AI-driven capabilities that support data-informed decision-making across education-focused products and services. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into robust technical solutions. Beyond delivery, you will shape engineering standards, data practices, and architectural frameworks that ensure long-term scalability. This position combines deep technical expertise with team leadership in a mission-driven, impact-oriented environment focused on expanding access to education.

Accountabilities:

Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of scalable data platforms and products built on Databricks
Translate business and platform priorities into actionable technical roadmaps, architecture designs, and execution plans
Oversee the development of reliable, efficient, and cost-optimized data pipelines and lakehouse solutions
Define and enforce enterprise data architecture standards, including modeling, semantic layers, and reusable frameworks
Provide hands-on technical leadership by reviewing designs, solving complex engineering challenges, and guiding best practices
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, fostering accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
Partner with product, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions that enhance insights and decision-making
Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and AI-enabled development workflows

Requirements:

8–12 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or software engineering roles
Strong hands-on expertise with Databricks, Apache Spark, and modern lakehouse architectures
Proven experience building and scaling cloud-based data pipelines in AWS and/or Azure environments
3–5 years of leadership experience managing data engineering teams and delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts including dimensional modeling and semantic layers
Experience implementing modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and AI/ML data enablement
Ability to translate strategic goals into execution plans while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
Experience working in analytics, reporting, or AI-driven environments is highly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
