About the Role

As a Refrigeration Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of automated control systems across industrial refrigeration plants. You will play a key role in ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement across operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC/HMI/SCADA systems for refrigeration plants
• Modify and optimise control logic for compressors, evaporators, condensers, and auxiliary systems
• Integrate new plant equipment into existing control systems
• Analyse plant performance and implement energy efficiency improvements
• Optimise defrost cycles, suction control, and head pressure strategies
• Troubleshoot electrical and control faults across refrigeration systems
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to service teams
• Maintain system backups, version control, and cybersecurity standards
• Support automation aspects of capital projects and system upgrades
• Ensure compliance with electrical, safety, and hazardous environment standards

About You

Minimum / Preferred Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Engineering
• Proven experience working with PLC/SCADA systems
• Strong understanding of industrial refrigeration systems (highly advantageous)
• Experience in commissioning and system integration
• Knowledge of safety standards and hazardous environments
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
