About This Position
Ultrasound Technologist
Job Summary
This position performs a variety of dynamic ultrasound procedures. Follows established protocols for gathering the desired history and other imaging studies that add value to ultrasound studies. Prepares exam room and tray set up for invasive procedures. Produces high quality diagnostic scans. Communicates well with other staff as well as physician offices to insure accuracy in order information and creates an atmosphere of teamwork. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- The candidate must have completed an Associate of Science Degree in Radiology or Sonography, and they will be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the ARRT(S)(BS) or with completion of required registry(s) within two years of employment.
- CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Candidates will be registered by the ARDMS or ARRT(S)(BS).

- Requires excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital.
- Requires interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
- Requires developed computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
- Requires excellent customer service skills with special emphasis on patient centered care.
- Requires analytical and problem solving skills.
- Requires the ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.
Working Conditions
- Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.
- Work may be subject to interruptions.
- Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.
- Works with protected health information.
- Requires ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays and/or weekends based on the needs of the department.
Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment
- Requires standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.
- Requires using computer and other standard office equipment.
- Uses patient care tools and equipment as they relate to area of clinical specialty.
