About This Position

Job Requirements:

  • Masters prepared in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Advanced Practice Nurse License via the New Jersey State Board of Nursing
  • Maintain National Certification AANP or ANCC
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey
  • CDS and DEA license
  • BLS and ACLS.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem

Essential Functions:

  • Works with the Pediatric General Neurology, Adult/Pediatric Epilepsy Medical Directors to deliver care to patients within the EMU or with diagnosis of seizure/epilepsy. Independently evaluate new and established patients, to later present or discuss with attending physician.
  • Round on new and established patients with attending MD.
  • Independently evaluate and create H and P on elective admission to the EMU, for diagnostic purposes or presurgical evaluation.
  • Write inpatient notes on new and established patients every day.
  • Put in admitting orders and other order changes every day in EPIC.
  • Independently make acute decisions of patient that are actively seizing or in status epilepticus, in terms of pharmacological management or disposition. Contact MD for any urgent questions/decisions if needed.
  • Being able to order appropriate ancillary testing (labs , MRis ) on new or established patients.
  • Take part on a call rotation, being able to independently triage phone calls and decide when it is appropriate to discuss with the attending physician.
