About This Position

Our Superintendents are responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of commercial/industrial construction projects to ensure that the project is built on time, within budget, and according to design specifications.

This is a key role on our project teams, coordinating work with different crafts and subcontractors, assuming responsibility for productivity and contractual performance of the project. The Superintendent maintains continual open communication with design team, Project Manager, client, and subcontractors to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. May provide estimating assistance, identify design inefficiencies, resolve issues with plans before they result in added budget expenditures. Maintains awareness of safety rules and procedures, identifies safety hazards and implements corrective actions.

The regular working hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. but needs to be able to work extra hours, including weekends to meet project schedules, demands, and site emergencies. Most projects are located within a 100-mile radius of our office in Nashville.

Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field and at least 10 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment, of which 5 years was as a Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent in same setting
  • Experience leading commercial construction projects with a value of $5M or greater
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and decision-making/problem-solving skills
  • Must have good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement construction documents
  • Ability to calculate correct concrete, stone, and lumber quantities for projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive client focus and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent supervisory skills with ability to directly supervise employees and subcontractors
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, P6 Scheduling, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license with good driving record
