About This Position
Salary Range
Annual: $60,000- $65,000
Overview: The Rest Area Project Manager will oversee rest area operations, managing a team of supervisors and technicians to ensure safety, cleanliness, and maintenance standards are met. Acting as the primary liaison with NMDOT District 1, this role coordinates repairs, schedules, and projects while resolving customer concerns and addressing emergencies.
Responsibilities:
- Directly oversee and manage Highway Supervisors, Rest Area Supervisors, and a Repair Technician Supervisor.
- Collaborate closely with NMDOT District 1 to align rest area operations with state standards and expectations and serve as the primary point of contact for updates, communication, and issue resolution with NMDOT.
- Analyze situations to identify solutions that align with customer expectations and operational priorities. Be available to respond to emergencies or urgent issues at rest areas, providing timely and effective resolutions.
- Communicate professionally with customers, addressing concerns and providing timely updates as needed.
- Utilize Microsoft Office and other technology tools to create tracking and expense reports, monitor work progress, and maintain records.
- Provide regular updates on project statuses, challenges, and accomplishments to leadership and customers.
- Prepare and submit employee schedules, expense reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Manage competing priorities effectively, ensuring that deadlines and operational goals are met.
- Ensure all rest areas meet high standards to deliver a positive experience for visitors.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a minimum of three years of experience managing custodial and grounds operations, including cost tracking and maintaining expenditure records and reports as required. Additionally, at least three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including team leadership, project management, and priority coordination; or a combination of education and experience totaling three years.
Licenses/Certifications. Valid driver’s license.
Other (e.g., post-offer drug screen, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Employee’s must undergo a driver’s license record check; employees must pass a background check. Note: For Federal position list NCICS Clearance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Microsoft Word and Excel) and Tresco databases.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under stressful situations.
- Capable of leading and guiding meetings, trainings, and implementing team processes effectively.
- Ability to work in a complex, rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to identify and resolve programmatic and systemic issues.
- Ability to identify and resolve concerns and conflict successfully.
- Ability to maintain purposeful relationship in crisis situations and skill in conflict resolution.
- Knowledge, understanding, and respect for diversity (cultural, ethnicity, idea, etc.) and demonstrate ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Possess and demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking skills effectively.
Rate of Pay: $60,000 to $65,000
Hours: 7:00am-5:00pm
Location: Las Cruces, NM
Pay Range: MG-5
