Who we are:
Founded in 1988, by PISD school counselor Nancy Boyd, and educator Kay Goodman, what began as a 6-bed teen shelter has grown into a 48-bed multi-faceted agency that includes a children's emergency shelter, three transitional living homes, free individual & family counseling services, street outreach, and a Youth Resource & Community Outreach Center.
Serving Collin & Dallas County and the majority of North Texas, the mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living and street-outreach programs and services to at-risk children, youth and young adults (newborn to 24 years) who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness, with a special focus on supporting the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.

Who you are:
We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Event Manager to lead the planning and execution of events that will support our fundraising, community outreach, and programmatic goals. This role requires a creative, results-driven professional who can manage both large and small-scale events while ensuring every detail aligns with the organization's mission and goals. Confidence in selling the mission of the agency and asking for financial support is key in this position. The ideal candidate will be passionate about our cause, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and have experience in graphic design, event planning and marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cultivate positive relationships with donors, volunteers, board members, and community partners, fostering a culture of philanthropy and engagement across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Oversee all aspects of event planning, coordination, and execution for the organization.
- Manage both large and small-scale events while ensuring details align with the organization's mission and goals.
- Ensure events run smoothly, engage target audiences, and generate donations.
- Develop and implement event strategies, including timelines, logistics, and budgets.
- Coordinate with internal teams of staff, volunteers and vendors for event planning and execution.
- Oversee event design, production and set up to ensure a seamless attendee experience.
- Identify and secure event venues, vendors and support Chief Relationship Officer in securing sponsorships.
- Work with Chief Relationship Officer to develop and manage event budgets, ensuring cost-efficiency and accountability.
- Monitor expenses and track payments related to event planning and execution.
- Identify potential funding sources and assist with fundraising efforts tied to events.
- Create event marketing materials, such as flyers, email blasts, signage, programs and all other event collateral.
- Promote events to target audiences, increasing attendance, engagements and donation potential.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to maximize event marketing through social media and other outlets.
- Ensure compliance with any legal, safety and venue-specific requirements.
- Lead day-of-event operations, troubleshooting any issues as they arise.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in marketing, events management, and graphic design.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Relationship Officer to develop communication strategies and messaging for engaging event sponsors and guests.
- Function as contact person for third party events.
- Represent the organization at public speaking engagements, including community events, conferences, and meetings, to promote awareness of our mission, programs, and initiatives.
- Support intake of donations as a backup as needed.
- Assist in other activities assigned by Chief Relationship Officer.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Proven experience (1-2 years) in marketing, events coordination, graphic design, social media management, and website maintenance, preferably in a non-profit or similar environment.
- Proficient in Canva, social media management tools, and Squarespace.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a creative flair for storytelling and engaging content creation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for events and donor engagement activities.
- Non-profit agency experience a plus
General Agency Requirements:
- Reports immediately any suspected child abuse/neglect of a child.
- Sets a high standard of professional, technical, personal conduct and competence for subordinate personnel.
- Emphasizes safety to keep employee injury to a minimum.
- Have a current Texas Driver's License.
Minimum Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods during events.
- Capacity to lift and carry event equipment, supplies, and materials weighing up to a certain weight (e.g., 25-50 pounds).
