Position Summary: This is a full-time position that works with the Director of Facilities to support all facility activities and ensure the optimal environment for staff and animals. The Facilities Manager maintains and manages the buildings, grounds, security system, safety measures, equipment, and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is highly driven, professional, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate is someone who loves animals and has an interest in keeping their temporary living space safe, comfortable, and in tip-top shape for both the animals and the staff who care for them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and complete repairs, upgrades and maintenance for buildings, grounds, security system, and equipment. These include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and equipment repairs and projects. Carpentry is a plus.
  • Manage parts, supplies, and materials.
  • Assist the Director of Facilities with the prioritization of repairs, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Plan, organize and oversee various projects from start to finish, and communicating effectively throughout the entire process.
  • Manage the work order management system.
  • Supervise and collaborate with outside vendors or volunteers when additional assistance is needed.
  • Be on call and carry out safety and emergency response activities as directed.
  • Report any building or safety issues or concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a sense of flexibility and willingness to assist in areas outside of normal responsibilities.
  • Assist with managing the facility's budget, ensuring costs are controlled and expenditures are tracked accurately.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for facility needs and escalates to the Director of Facilities as needed.
  • Complies with all company safety regulations.
  • Other assigned facility duties and general shelter duties.

Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of facility or maintenance experience
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • History of work efficiencies in project management and handling diverse tasks and details within time constraints preferred.
  • Knowledge of facilities management required

Work Conditions

  • Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday to train. It will change in the future.
  • Work schedule and hours may vary; evenings and weekends will be required at times as well as on call hours.
  • Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs.
  • Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats of all ages and temperaments.
  • Maturity, good judgment, professionalism, and ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to remain calm and empathetic in stressful situations
  • Compassion and empathy for animals and humans
  • Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, and high noise levels.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, carrying, and reaching
  • Ability to lift 50lbs to waist height.
