About This Position

Assistant Manager

Reports To: General Manager FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt

Summary

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager and assisting in all operations of an assigned restaurant in accordance with the company’s quality and service standards to optimize sales and profitability.

Position Details

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Operations

    Ensure the restaurant operates efficiently and effectively within the Company’s fiscal and operational guidelinesAssists in the analysis of cost controls and manage programs or procedures to ensure that financial goals, are met. This includes;
      Manage operational expenses to maximize profit potentialMonitor monthly projections of Profit and Loss (P & L)Monitor daily, weekly, and annual sales to meet or exceed budgeted goals.Labor costs meet budgeted levels
    Monitor overall operations of the restaurant ensuring quality food and positive guest relations

Food Product and Preparation

    Ensure established standards of food safety and sanitation are maintainedEnsure all menu items are made according to presented specificationsAssists in overseeing purchasing, storage and handling of food products to ensure quality and freshness

Marketing

    Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability and guest countsSupport and implement all Company restaurant marketing programsImplement local promotions and marketing plans

Staffing and Team Development

    Supervision of all staff, including hourly Teammates and supervisorsTrain, coach, and counsel restaurant staffMaintain proper staffing levels to meet operational standards and labor budget goalsBuild a positive and motivating environment for all Teammates that is committed to delivering superior customer service and restaurant profitabilityHire and conduct new hire orientations for hourly TeammatesEnsure company policies and procedures are complied with and understood by TeammatesMaintain Teammate files, data, and I9’s to meet regulatory standards

Compliance and Safety

    Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal laws and regulationsEnsure all safety and security systems and procedures are followed to ensure health and safety of Teammates and guestsEnsure all property and assets, including equipment, POS system, computers, inventory and building, are maintained and free from neglect, abuse, and /or theft

Position Requirements

Experience

    Applicable secondary education preferred, or a combination of education and previous related professional experienceTwo or more years of supervisory or management experience or equivalent, preferably from a casual dining restaurantMust have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s licenseMust be able to function within and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environmentMust be flexible to work a variety of schedules to include nights, weekends and holidays

    Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a broad range of individuals both within the company and externallyExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailStrong math and cash handling skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to set clear priorities and see to it that they are followedStrong leadership, problem solving, and planning skillsAbility to work in a self-directed modeWork well under pressure and be able to respond to continuously changing needs

Working Conditions

    Work is typically performed in a restaurant environment with occasional travel other locationsPhysical requirements include standing for long periods of time, withstanding temperature changes from the grill to freezer, use of POS systems and other general office equipment and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs
