This position is responsible for promoting a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees by patrolling parking lots, protecting physical assets, responding to all security issues and maintaining good working relationships with local law enforcement agencies and the Emergency Department officers will need to keep an open line of communication with the Emergency Department staff. Emergency Department Security Officer(s) will serve as the law enforcement liaison. Ability to lift/move/carry objects or persons. Ability to restrain combative patients. Escort incarcerated patients and/or assist law enforcement personal to various hospital areas to maintain hospital policy. Security Officer(s) specified to Emergency Department only will be required to attend daily Emergency Department huddles.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Process (PIP) at Blessing Hospital.
- Education/Training/Experience:

REQUIRED:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of hire
- Functions quickly and calmly in emergency situations
- Attend daily Emergency Department huddles (Emergency Department officers only)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in order to work well as a team and independently

PREFERRED:
- Typing and computer skills
- Knowledge of security functions obtained through education or work experience (i.e military, law enforcement, fire department, other Medical response positions)
- Previous crisis intervention training and experience

License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- CPR/BLS preferred

Pay Status:
- NON-EXEMPT HOURLY
