Job overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SAP Specialist to support the migration from SAP R/3 ERP to SAP S/4HANA. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the current SAP R/3 environment, coordinating technical and functional requirements, and ensuring a seamless transition to the S/4HANA platform. This role is critical to ensuring business continuity, data integrity, and process optimization throughout the upgrade.
Responsibilities
IT Operations and Applications
- Ensure the availability and functionality of digitized business processes, particularly within the SAP environment.
- Implement new, maintain and support existing software and business processes in close collaboration with the global IT team.
- Assist departments with systematic problem analysis and gather IT-related requirements.
- Evaluate implementation options, taking into account current technologies, corporate standards, and economic considerations.
- Assess functionalities and align them with business requirements.
- Translate analytical findings into actionable, cost-effective process improvements.
- Represent your location in the global IT team and maintain with a company-wide perspective.
- Develop and maintain corporate standards, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
- Conduct training sessions for employees during the rollout or modernization of processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the IT process architecture.
Continuous Improvement, Security, and Compliance
- Optimize, automate, and integrate recurring processes and tasks.
- Incorporate cybersecurity and data protection requirements into IT operations.
- Design and implement security measures, including role and authorization concepts.
- Safeguard data integrity and confidentiality.
Project Work
- Lead both local and group-wide IT projects.
- Ensure adherence to quality, budget, and timeline targets for assigned applications and IT-supported processes.
- Represent the IT department to internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively participate in and lead the SAP S/4HANA transformation at various locations.
Service Providers
- Collaborate with service providers and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate the deployment of service providers for operational relevance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Informatics, or a related field.
- Experience in SAP system configuration and support (preferably SAP S/4HANA).
- Proven Experience in the SAP core modules like SD, MM, PP are highly desirable
- Strong understanding of business process management and IT service management.
- Experience in leading IT projects and working in cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
- Proficiency in analyzing complex systems and translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other company locations.
- Office-based work environment with occasional travel required to IMS Gear sister locations (domestic and international).
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere with a strong emphasis on collaboration and cross-functional coordination.
- Frequent interaction with executive leadership, technical teams, and external vendors or consulting partners.
- Exposure to high-stakes decision-making and enterprise-level project execution.
- Work involves extended use of computers, project management tools, and virtual collaboration platforms.
- May occasionally require after-hours availability to support project milestones, global deployments, or urgent issues across time zones.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and video conferencing tools
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 15 pounds (e.g., laptops, documents)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed for project-related activities
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person and via phone, video conference, and email
- Occasional extended hours or evening work may be required to support global teams or meet project deadlines
