Personal Support Worker (PSW) - Immediate Hiring, Toronto at C-Care Health Services – Toronto, Ontario

We are urgently looking for Personal Support Workers (PSW) who are interested and available to work in home and facility settings in Toronto. Fixed availability highly preferred.

Scope and Responsibilities

Home Care Setting

• Assist clients with overall daily hygiene including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing.
• Support clients with ambulation, transfers, and mobility through mobility aids such as wheelchairs to avoid fall and injury.
• Assist with transfers between beds and chairs according to the client's needs and ensure comfort and safety.
• Assist clients with their meals by aiding with eating, ensuring proper nutrition, and ensuring dietary requirements are being met as well as monitoring dietary restrictions.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to the clients by listening to their needs, being attentive, engaging in a conversation, and providing encouragement and reassurance to promote social interaction.
• Monitor changes in behavior, health, and overall well-being.

Facility Setting

• Provide care to the clients in accordance with the facility or hospital's instructions and directives
• Assist staff within the facility as necessary

PSW Escorts

• Aid with booking transportation and ensure client's safe and timely arrival from the healthcare facility to their destination.
• Assist the client with standing, walking, and other movements to avoid fall and injury.
• Monitor post-operative and post-procedural complications and perform after-care procedures as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) diploma from an accredited institution
• NACC certificate if credentials were obtained from a private career college
• Has a valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• Has a valid Mask Fit certificate
• Working knowledge of spoken and written English and ability to take direction from appropriate professional hospital employees
• Experience with Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS cases is highly preferred
