Quality Control Specialist

Our Terre Haute, Indiana site based in the United States is seeking a Quality Control Specialist to lead quality assurance in our cutting/slitting operations. This role ensures products meet established quality standards, coordinates with international teams on customer complaints, and implements continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all operating instructions, plant safety rules, and quality procedures; complete required safety activities on time
  • Maintain strong housekeeping/5S standards in work areas and throughout the production floor
  • Work closely with Process Technicians, Process Engineers, and Operations leadership to ensure consistent production of conforming film
  • Maintain active attention to process equipment; troubleshoot issues and respond promptly to unplanned events (e.g., breaks) to minimize downtime and quality impact
  • Monitor cutting/slitting operations to ensure compliance with established quality standards and specifications
  • Perform first-article inspections and routine sampling/testing (e.g., hardness) on incoming and processed materials
  • Verify customer sample quality prior to shipment and ensure results meet customer requirements
  • Identify, document, and ensure proper segregation/disposition of nonconforming product in accordance with procedures
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection logs, and reports; ensure timely documentation of results
  • Provide quality oversight on the production floor; work with the shift team to resolve quality, equipment, or process issues through to an effective solution and coach operators on standards and best practices
  • Ensure production documentation (e.g., Process Definition Files) is current and that process settings align with approved specifications
  • Support training and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen product quality and reduce defects
  • Receive, document, and respond to customer complaints and quality inquiries in a timely, professional manner
  • Coordinate returns and claims activities with internal stakeholders and international teams (e.g., Spain), following established procedures
  • Lead investigations into quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence
  • Communicate quality status, findings, and action plans effectively across all levels of the organization (including upper management) and with cross-functional teams
  • Track and analyze quality metrics and nonconformities; recommend and implement actions to address adverse trends
  • Prepare and distribute routine quality reports (e.g., waste classification, claims/complaints) for internal stakeholders
  • Proactively retrieve scrap streams from the plant, label and stage/store material per requirements, and support scrap disposition, salvage evaluation, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Use enterprise systems and MS Office tools (Excel) to track data, maintain documentation, and support reporting
  • Provide backup support to production and shipping activities as needed, consistent with training and safety requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and MS Office (especially Excel) for daily data entry, tracking, reporting, and documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications/quality standards and use related systems (scanning/tagging, data uploads)
  • Willingness to learn and adapt (including technical processes/slitter operation); team-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong planning/coordination skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams (including international coordination) and deliver good customer service
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to guide others on standards and best practices
