Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) is a mission-driven institution dedicated to inspiring people to explore, discover, and learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. Founded in 1997, the Aquarium provides impactful educational experiences for guests of all ages and backgrounds.

Since opening its Draper, Utah facility in 2014, LLPA has welcomed more than 10 million visitors and delivered over 650,000 educational experiences to students. Home to over 4,000 animals representing 650 species, the Aquarium features immersive habitats from around the world, including coral reefs, kelp forests, the deep ocean, Antarctic waters, tropical rainforests, Asian cloud forests, and Utah’s freshwater ecosystems.

Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) since 2019, LLPA is in an exciting phase of growth. Position Summary:

The Facilities Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and overall functionality of building systems and infrastructure. This role ensures a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work across multiple trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general facilities upkeep.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· 0–1+ years of maintenance or related experience preferred

· Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, painting, and drywall,

· Experience with basic problem solving and diagnoses

· Willingness to learn multiple trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)

· Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision

· Ability to perform physical work (lifting, climbing, standing for extended periods)

· CPR certification preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

· CPR Certification preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, including painting and drywall, under supervision

· Assist Technicians II and III with more complex repairs and projects, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical

· Follow established procedures and perform consistent preventative maintenance

· Learn and apply foundational skills across multiple trades

· Report issues and escalate complex problems to senior team members

· Follow all established safety and compliance guidelines

· Complete preventative maintenance tasks to ensure safe and efficient facility operations

· Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve facility issues in a timely manner

· Follow all safety policies and procedures and maintain compliance with regulations

· Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and materials

· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

· Communicate effectively with team members and other departments

· Assist with facility improvement projects and general upkeep

· Support emergency response efforts as needed

Physical Demands of the Job:

· Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, balancing, crawling and reaching

· Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.; up to 100 lbs. with assistance

· Comfortable and able to work on ladders at heights up to 20 ft.

· Job will primarily be in a workshop environment

· Must be comfortable working around water, salt, power tools, and animals

· The overall work environment while performing this job includes exposure to weather conditions and the noise level is usually moderate

· Periodic evening work is expected as well as some holidays and weekends
