RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage plant operations in alignment with company policies and under the direction of the Regional Manager
• Ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal regulations, including permitting and operational requirements
• Lead, coach, and communicate with plant staff through meetings, emails, and one-on-one discussions to meet performance goals
• Control operating costs and maximize profitability through established operating standards
• Participating in interviewing, hiring recommendations, onboarding, and employee development
• Provide input on disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with company policy
• Ensure adherence to all quality control, HACCP, APPI, safety, and regulatory standards
• Coordinate daily production activities to maintain efficiency, cleanliness, and equipment reliability
• Identify and resolve production issues, including yield variances and process inefficiencies
• Communicate significant operational issues promptly to the Regional Manager
• Oversee shipping, production throughput, and quality control processes
• Manage maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance, and plant inspections
• Review maintenance logs and coordinate major repairs with leadership
• Manage staffing levels, schedules, timecards, vacation planning, and shift assignments
• Evaluate employee performance and support professional development
• Review production, yield, payroll, and financial reports and recommend improvements
• Work closely with Accounting to address unusual production or financial variances
• Promote and enforce safety programs to ensure a safe working environment
• Maintain plant cleanliness and equipment organization
• Submit weekly activity reports and provide daily operational updates
• Monitor raw material quality and finished product output
• Ensure understanding and compliance with union contracts
• Oversee wastewater sampling, meter readings, and environmental monitoring
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of CMPAF (Cattle Material Prohibited in Animal Feed) and APPI (Animal Protein Producers Industry) procedures and documentation
• Strong understanding of safe work practices and regulatory compliance
• Basic electrical knowledge, including motors, controls, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
• Ability to perform basic plumbing repairs
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
