About This Position
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Operates battery of looms to weave yarn into cartridges.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Observes cartridge being woven to detect weaving defects
- Removes defects in cartridge by cutting and pulling out filling
- Adjusts machine to resume weaving
- Examines machine to determine cause of loom stoppage, such as warp, filling, harness breaks, or mechanical defects
- Ties piece of yarn to broken end and threads yarn through eyes and warp breaks, using reed hook
- Notifies appropriate person of mechanical defects
- Packages completed filters into boxes
- May replace empty spools of yarn with full ones on nonautomatic looms
- May tend winding units attached to looms that wind filling onto quills
OTHER DUTIES
- Performs all other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
- High School diploma or GED required
