JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adheres to all hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence. Assists with the development of patient care standards, orientation, and continuing education. Assesses, plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates individualized, professional patient care. Provides nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives and state Nurse Practice Act. Participates in unit and hospital performance and quality improvement activities. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license. Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by date of hire. Minimum of 2 years acute care nursing experience with preference for background in cardiology. Bachelor’s degree desired for the position.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, family, and multidisciplinary team members. Ability to think critically and utilize the nursing process. Demonstrated clinical nursing skills across the life span. Knowledge and ability to apply current theories, techniques and practices of nursing within their specialty area. Competent cardiac monitoring skills, including use of equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease and risk of injury from lifting patients and operation of equipment.
WORK CONTACT GROUP: All patient related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, mobilize and transport patients. Must be able to bend, stoop, push and pull. Walks and stands for most of the working day. Must possess visual, tactile and manual dexterity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TECHNICAL
- Provides direct patient care and functions as a patient advocate.
- Performs and monitors the patient throughout the entirety of the stress echocardiogram testing process.
- Places intravenous lines for administration of saline contract bubble studies and Definity™ contrast studies.
- Monitoring and interpreting electrocardiograms (EKG) during procedures
- Continuously assesses cardiac rate and rhythm, blood pressure, and patient symptoms in real time
- Administering pharmacologic stress agents such as Dobutamine as ordered
- Identifying and responding to adverse reactions or emergent situations during testing
- Utilizes the critical thinking model throughout routine work activities. Provides and documents patient care delivery in the electronic medical record (EMR) per policy/protocol. Solicits active involvement of the patient in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team members in the goal planning process.
- Demonstrates proficiency in department specific nursing skills. Completes, maintains and demonstrates competency in all unit based orientation and annual competencies per regulatory, departmental and hospital standards.
- Uses the understand of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care.
- Promotes a healthy and healing environment by maintaining organization and work readiness of the department, patient rooms, and patient care areas. Provides a clean, calm, orderly patient care environment.
- Demonstrates a collaborative and participatory approach across department(s), service unit, and organizational boundaries.
- Promotes teamwork and cooperation through participation in patient care activities, patient assignments, and staff assistance. Provides support to assure patient care activities are completed.
- Oral and written communication is clear, constructive, consistent, effective, and conducive to positive interactions between individuals and groups. Demonstrates good listening skills and seeks feedback; assures mutual understanding.
- Participates in evaluation process annually. Responsible for continued professional growth.

- Maintains skills competency annually as evidenced by testing and/or return demonstration during mandatory skills labs.
