Job Description

We are a busy Gastroenterology office with 33 Providers. We are looking for a team-oriented individual to provide great care to our patients! This individual should show great attention to detail and a passion for healthcare.

We are currently expanding our Practice by adding additional providers and several more procedure rooms! We are looking to bring on additional team members to help accommodate for the increased number of patients we will be seeing!

JOB TITLE: Specialty Clinic Nurse (RN)

JOB SUMMARY: Providing specialized clinical support in an infusion setting by managing patient care for biologic infusions, administering capsule endoscopies, and performing breath testing.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Administer medications (e.g., Remicade, Entyvio, Skyrizi) via IV, monitor patient vitals and manage infusion pumps. Maintain sterile fields, handle equipment and assist with prep/discharge procedures.
  2. Onsite training for prior authorizations to equip clinical staff with skills to secure approval from health plans for medical services and medications.
  3. Educates patients on Breath Test Procedures (Lactose, Fructose, and Bacterial Overgrowth) as needed.
  4. Assists Specialty Clinic Director with Capsule Endoscopy Procedure (in-patient and out-patient) as assigned. Educates patients on procedure, submits authorization, schedules, administers capsule endoscopy and provide follow-up calls.
  5. Maintains patient confidentiality.
  6. Demonstrates good communication and interaction skills when dealing with supervisors, co-workers, patients, families, and other departments.
  7. Follows appropriate infection control policies and procedures of facility and regulatory agencies.
  8. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  9. Participates in organizational and departmental goals and performance improvement activities.
  10. Participates in personal and professional growth by attending in-services/educational workshops and scheduled departmental meetings.
  11. Organizes and prioritizes work to complete responsibilities according to plan within established time frames.
  12. Keeps punctual and regular attendance.
  13. Performs other tasks and special assignments as directed by the supervisor.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing to provide patient care and treatment. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Ability to interpret and maintain accurate medical records and accurately record test results. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting or administering a variety of treatment methods and medications as directed. Skills and abilities in developing and maintaining department quality assurance and control standards. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instruction. Skill in operating a keyboard, photocopier, fax machine, and other technology typical of an office environment. Ability to communicate clearly. Skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Required ability to work in a caring and kind manner under high stress with patients who are irritable or confused.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as RN required.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. One (1) year's experience in a clinical/surgical setting or medical office setting preferred.
  2. IV Infusion experience preferred.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSURE: A current Nebraska license as a registered nurse. BLS certification.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday from 7:00am - 4:30pm. Fridays from 7:00am - 12:00pm.

Expected Hours: 36-40 hours/week
