Description:

Position Summary

The Site Engineer manages the engineering and compliance programs, provides direction and expertise to develop the data systems, and uses technical applications to provide continuous improvement to operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with the Compliance Coordinator to prepare and maintain environmental permits, plans, procedures, and manuals.
  • Assists in the review and approval of special waste disposal applications, acting as backup as needed.
  • Oversee environmental consultants, drillers, and laboratories acting as MWA quality control for all engineering projects.
  • Provides analytical and technical support for projects and programs.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual operating budget and capital plan for all Operational facilities.
  • Assists with identification and development of capital projects, coordinates construction development, and makes recommendations to final design.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of compliance calendar, environmental audits, make recommendations on changes.
  • Collects, interprets, and disseminates technical information and data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides presentations, analysis, reports and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Assists with collecting information to ensure environmental compliance with regulatory agencies for all ongoing operations and projects.
  • Maintains and updates plans, operating records, project documents, and permit correspondence.
  • Collaborate with personnel from the renewable energy plant about gas collection system.
  • Acquires knowledge of latest technological developments and provides information to managers and staff with subject matter expertise in these areas.
  • Manages facility GPS system, lift designs, related databases and relevant documentation.
  • Maintains up to date maps of site infrastructure and provides necessary data for operational decisions.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in Environmental field, Solid Waste, Air/Water pollution control
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software
  • Engineer in Training (EIT Certification)

Preferred Education & Experience

  • PE License
  • ArcGIS Experience

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Work Environment

This job operates at the landfill, compost center, and transfer station locations. These locations are subject to potential hazards, including odor, dust, moving machinery, and extreme temperatures. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
